A unique twist on the Regency romance that is based on a true story. Ellen is abducted by a fortune hunter, who convinces her that the only way to save her father from financial ruin is to marry him at Gretna Green. Finally rescued, she agrees to face the notoriety associated with seeking an annulment. The villain makes Mr. Wickham look like an amateur! I enjoyed the story, which has a satisfying ending, but reading the historical note👇

Lynnsoprano is very sobering, as it points out the reality of life in the 19th century. 2y

This came up in my daily Bookbub email, and I pulled the trigger. It sounds interesting and is based on a true story. I bailed on the last romance I tried, hoping for better luck with this.
