One woman puts loveand law schoolinto the hands of fate in this spirited rom-com, perfect for fans of Legally Blonde and The Hating Game Its the Magic 8 Balls fault. All of it. One teeny little question, and suddenly Simone Alexander is chucking her whole life out the window. So long, being a chef in Californiaits time for law school. In Michigan. Where theres actual winter. And law schools nothing like the romantic comedies said it was. Simone is tragically underprepared. Hell, shes already behind before classes have even begun, and her hard-as-nails Contracts professor is giving her no mercy. Then theres Silas Whitman, her tall and annoyingly cute neighbor. Off campus, Silas is incredible. Kissable, even. In class, he is one thousand percent the obnoxious kiss-ass. But Simones given up everything to be a lawyer. The competition is fierce and she has a hateful professor gunning for her to fail, but shes not about to let little things like sleep, or love, stop her from kicking law school ass...

Mehso-so

Former saucier at a Michelin star restaurant Simone Alexander pivots to law school and on her move in day meets handsome neighbor Silas Whitman. The book follows her stumbling through her first year at law school (especially Contracts) and trying to make sense of Silas.
I enjoyed their relationship for the most part, but was constantly baffled by how ill-prepared she not only began but remained for law school.

This read more like they were 18-19 year olds and not the late 20‘s- early 30‘s that the main characters were.

“I worked as a top chef and it was punishing lifestyle and I didn‘t want to do that anymore.” So she decided on a whim that she‘d quit her job and change careers and applied and enrolled in law school. (IQuote from ARC)

Honestly there is more that didn‘t jive with me but I don‘t feel like it‘s necessary to go through it all.

Kristy_K I agree with you! I couldn‘t finish this one. 1y
