Recipe for Disaster
Recipe for Disaster: 40 Superstar Stories of Sustenance and Survival | Alison Riley
1 post | 1 to read
"Recipe for Disaster is a collection of stories and recipes-from a veritable who's who of contributors from the worlds of food, music, art, literature, activism, fashion, and pop culture-about finding comfort and joy in food when the unthinkable happens. You'll discover how getting dumped led to author Samantha Irby's Rejection Chicken. Comedian Sarah Silverman tells of the miraculous power of humble pinwheel cookies that got her through bouts of crippling childhood depression. Culinary legend Alice Waters reflects on how a perfectly dressed salad has carried her and her extended family through loneliness and uncertainty. Here are forty recipes-some traditional, some unconventional-from heart-healing Pesto to Pass Time to De-humiliating Muffins to the perfect eat-your-emotions pot of Beans for All Time. Part cookbook, part candid confessions, this book of good food for bad times reminds us that even the worst of days can yield something worth sharing: a story, a slice of cake, or the welcome reminder that we've all been there"--

#BookBinge

I have so many books on my shelves that fit today‘s #IncludesRecipes prompt but I recently bought this one from an Anthropologie walk-by at 40% off clearance for $11-ish. Part memoir, it‘s essays, some combined with recipes which are some of my favorite kind of foodie books. I like the mix from Bowen Yang to Alice Waters to Meshell Ndegocello to Jacqueline Woodson & that the focus is surviving low points with comfort food. 🍽️ ❤️
