Spotify set me up with an "Angry Running List," which taught me that I still enjoy Rage Against the Machine as much or more than I did in my feisty 20s, but now I cry at the lyrics.

It also taught me that, despite my conviction to the contrary, I apparently don't hate ALL Foo Fighters songs.

#tuesdaytunes @TieDyeDude

BarbaraBB I used to love Rage too and still do whenever I hear them. Quite timely 🤦🏻‍♀️ 1d
BarbaraBB Also Foo Fighters has been growing on me 💕 1d
PuddleJumper Rage Against still hits that spot for me especially when I'm out walking. Foo Fighters are a bit hit and miss. I have a screamy walk playlist which is a lot of emo, punk, and rock lol 21h
lil1inblue I love Rage far more at 45 than I did at 15. In fact, my Tom Morello crush didn't start until my 30s. 😂 14h

One of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, seems appropriate for today.

I got a walking pad for Xmas which is great in the PNW since it's always raining 🌧 I made a playlist specifically for walking. All the songs are upbeat with different BPMs and I try to match my pace to the beat. I've found this is the best way for me to hit my goals and zone out.

#TuesdayTunes

I‘ve been obsessed with this Queen song, which I discovered last week. Brian May sounds amazing on lead locals.

This collection of personal essays by former rapper turned comedian Jean Grae released back in March didn't get the attention it deserved imo. I love memoirs, but it's nice to get away from a chronological life story and dive deep into a variety of influential life experiences. We get to hear what her childhood was like after immigrating from South Africa, the trials of having a tough to pronounce name (not 'Jean Grae' at the time obviously)...👇

Billypar ...and what it was like to grow up in the Chelsea hotel, a fact that seems incredible given its fame, but to her was just home. And then there are other essays that have interesting insights into what it's like to get older and still try to maintain friendships and build a community. The essays are often very funny, and as a bonus, the audio book will often add sound effects to some of the more fantastical daydreams she veers into. 5d
Billypar Adding #TuesdayTunes given her musical history: she is one of my favorite rappers: you should check her out if you haven't already. 5d
The_Book_Ninja I remember her, I wondered where she had gone. I didn‘t buy any of her solo joints but she guests on a few I do own such as Spinna, The Roots and Masta Ace. I think Bahamadia is probably my fave. 5d
Billypar @The_Book_Ninja I love The Roots and Bahamadia, but don't know Spinna and Masta Ace - I'll have to check them out. Jean Grae's final album in 2018 was with her then husband Quelle Chris, who is another favorite of mine. That album, 'Everything's Fine', is fantastic all the way through. And you pretty much can't go wrong with anything in her catalogue. 4d

I‘ve been listening to a lot of alternative rock lately and then yesterday and today, I watched these 2 concert films from Slipknot. I never got to see them in concert. My older brother got me into this band a long time ago when they were really popular. I‘ve been a Slipknot fan since I was a little girl. I like that Corey Taylor can scream and sing and he doesn‘t lose his voice.

My wife and I are traveling to Philadelphia this week. She is attending ALA '25, and I'm tagging along to see family and friends. The heat wave will hopefully break before we arrive, but it's been a while since I've had to deal with east coast humidity. It'll be a short, busy trip, but I'm excited 😀 🥨🔔

Sorry…couldn‘t help myself. If you‘re part of this horrible heatwave, you can understand this…

“Man, it‘s a hot one
Like seven inches from the midday sun…”

My area is at a 100+ degree heat index today, and communities I used to work in are without power until at least mid-week, according to the electrical company. I lost power for about 20 minutes last night, and that worried me. #TuesdayTunes

DGRachel The heat and humidity are oppressive. We‘re expected to hit 100* today. Right now, the air temp is 92* with a feels-like of 100*. I‘ve been joking that I left Florida to get away from this nonsense but apparently didn‘t move far enough north. 1w
Librarybelle @DGRachel It‘s terrible! I am a cream puff and absolutely do not do well in warm temps. When the power went out last night, I was wondering how I could get all 4 cats into carriers and take all of us to my parents for cool air. I feel bad for those who do not have a/c and/or power and for the animals. Total yucky weather! 1w
DGRachel I do worry about rolling brown outs. At least I have screens on my windows and a battery powered fan so we could all hang out in the living room with the fan for a bit if we had to. I hope you keep your power and ac! 1w

Deblovestoread Hope the power stays on and you and your boys can stay comfortable. 1w
Bookwormjillk Did you have a storm or is it power grid issues? We're at feels like 102, but for some reason today feels better than yesterday? 1w
Read-n-Bloom Heat wave where I am too. 🥵 TY God for AC. 🙏🏻 1w
LiseWorks Yeah we beat the record for heat yesterday in the Ottawa region. It's brutal. 1w
Mimi28 Heat wave here too!! I hope things get better for you and your cats 🐈 1w
Librarybelle No storm, @Bookwormjillk . I think power grid issues, plus two transformers caught fire the last couple of days, which has affected the communities still without power. Let‘s hope nothing else happens! @Deblovestoread @Read-n-Bloom @LiseWorks @Mimi28 Stay cool!! 1w
MemoirsForMe Oh my! Stay cool! 🍦 4d
Librarybelle @MemoirsForMe Thankfully the temps have dropped a little, but we‘re only at the beginning of the summer, so who knows… 4d
