I liked most of the characters- with a VERY glaring exception- and I liked the reveals along the way. Above all, perhaps this should make us consider whether old friendships are still serving us.

4 family‘s come together for a glamping weekend and almost right away things go sideways..
pickThis book was like one of those restocking ASMR reels on Instagram…quick, tidy and satisfying. It was an easy read, but I had no problem staying engaged. The characters were well-developed and interesting and the plot was easy to follow. My only gripe was one scene toward the end where I felt the author was a little disingenuous and needlessly heavy-handed in the pursuit of building suspense. But all-in-all an author I will definitely try again.
pickThe star of this fun read was the rural coastal setting during a wicked storm. There are a lot of characters, but by midway through I was no longer referring to the handy character guide provided. The plot revolved around a group of old friends, the setting, a lot of booze and a missing 6 year old, so emotions were on full display and provided much of the entertainment. There were also some clever twists and a satisfying ending. 4/5 stars!
Progress 25%: Shout out to the setting. Sheer cliffs with crashing waves below…my favorite. There‘s quite a few characters but they‘re distinct and memorable albeit a bit stereotyped. Tension, secrets and cracks are already bubbling to the surface and the wine‘s barely even been uncorked. My interest is definitely peaked…what‘s wrong with Kip? Who‘s sitting on the edge of the cliff? What kind of masochist brings an infant camping?
Getting ready to start my first book of 2024 while I wait to pick up my son. I‘ve never read this author but I absolutely ❤️ a good locked-room mystery!
