Who Will Save Your Soul?
Who Will Save Your Soul? | Jody Smith
2 posts | 1 read | 4 to read
Deep in the woods there's a cabin, buried beneath that cabin is a demon. A group of high-schoolers dupe two classmates into assisting in bringing rise to the demon, but something goes wrong and the teens face off with a gory, blood-dripping, splatter-smattered onslaught that will test, transform, and terrorize them. Wild, grotesque, hilarious, Who Will Save Your Soul? is what would happen if Evil Dead and Dead Alive made sweet love and gave birth to a book baby.

I was so thoroughly disappointed in Lipsyte's “No One Left To Come Looking For You“ that I simply could not end my weekend on such a bad note. This was just what I needed. Set in the mid-90s & full of musical ref from the time, a group of teens go away to a cabin. Unbeknownst to two of them, they are actually there for a demon summoning ritual. This is very much a homage to Evil Dead & I loved the campy violent absurd fun of it.

vivastory Thanks for the book @reggie Def one of the more fun Rewind Or Die titles I've read! 1mo
Reggie I think the scene that really makes this book for me is when the mother tells her daughter you know these kids, you‘re smarter than them and to be smart. It‘s so simple and yet when you read all this horrible stuff that happens to this girl, you know someone somewhere cares for her. Idk I loved this book. Glad you did, too! 🖤🖤🖤 1mo

#22 in the Rewind or Die series. I haven‘t seen Dead Alive but I definitely got the Evil Dead homage. A group of teenagers dupe these formally nerdy girls into going up to a cabin where one of them was to be a vessel for a goddess. What could go wrong? Half way through I wondered-where do we go from here? That‘s when Jody Smith slams on the pedal and I couldn‘t stop reading, laughing, and saying, ewwww. There‘s an early 90s soundtrack that 👇🏼

Reggie added a lot to this. This was such good Halloween vibes fun, but just a warning-not for horror newbies. Pick! @Bookzombie @Michael_Gee there is a scene with a rat in here that I hope ya‘ll read one day and tell me about it. Lol 6mo
Michael_Gee @Reggie hell yeah! This sounds great. Adding it to my list! 6mo
Bookzombie @Reggie I added it to my list! This sounds like a lot of fun! 6mo

Billypar I saw Dead Alive once many years ago, but it left an impression. So much gory fun. Kind of like Reanimator but even more comedy and a bigger budget. 6mo
Reggie @Billypar it‘s free on YouTube so I might be watching it later. 6mo
Reggie @Bookzombie @Michael_Gee I don‘t know if you guys watch Dragula, it‘s the scary version of drag race. But the 3rd episode of this season, the bottom 3 of this week‘s competition got strapped to a dirty mattress, had cheese put on them, and then a bag of rats was dumped on them. It was intense. Lol 6mo
Michael_Gee @Reggie oh my gosh!! I have only seen one episode, i think, but wanted to check it out. Wow, that may be the push I needed. 🐀 6mo
Michael_Gee @Reggie Ok, I misread your message and started the third season, which I am now invested in. But just watched the third episode and there were no 🐀, which is when I realized I was on the wrong season. I will have to watch the newest season next! 5mo
Reggie @Michael_Gee season 3 is great. If that‘s the one with Priscilla Chambers, Eva Destruction, and Landon the drag king you can‘t go wrong with that season. 5mo
Michael_Gee @Reggie it is! They are amazing. I know of Landon because he was on Peaches Christ‘s Midnight Mass podcast. Have you listened to that? (edited) 5mo
Reggie I haven‘t. I‘ll have to listen to that. Peaches is actually a judge on an episode on Season 2 of Dragula. One day I will make it to California to watch one of her shows. 5mo
Bookzombie @reggie I haven‘t seen Dragula, but that sounds intense. 🐀 @Michael_Gee I also didn‘t know about Peaches Christ‘s Midnight Mass podcast and will have to check it out. Thank you both! (edited) 5mo
Michael_Gee @Reggie About to watch the rat challenge! 5mo
