This is a great book for pre-k and preschool aged children who are getting ready for nap time. It introduces poetry concepts at a young age and features familiar characters.
Featuring many famous mother goose characters, this poetry book is connects to its readers background knowledge while telling a new story. Written for children at the bed time hour, this poem uses rhyming to convey its message
“Girls and Boys come out to play/ the moon doth shine as bright as day..“ I chose this quote because of the pictures that went along with it. It showed a mother goose calling all the children with big illustrations.
I enjoyed reading this book because it added a fun twist on the old fashion nursery rhymes. Children might be more compelled to read this version than the original because it has more of a story and not just an anthology of poems. I would recommend this to all elementary students.
This book has a plethora of Mother Goose nursery rhymes but also has a fun twist of a story as well. It talks about how Mother Goose comes and asks children to come and play and have an adventure. During the adventure Mother Goose introduces them to several characters that are also in her nursery rhymes.
This poem book has short lines with a fast rhyme. There is a lot of assonance because of the same vowel pattern and rhyming with the words ending in similar letters.
This is a book that uses the Mother Goose poem titled, “Girls and Boys Come Out to Play“ as its base for a new poem. It is about Mother Goose inviting children to play and go on an adventure. The classic characters from previous Mother Goose poems make appearances.

This book would be a great fit for students in k-2nd grade. It reminds me a lot of good night moon, especially with the rhyming structure, and the connections to other nursery rhymes could help students work on comprehension at an early age. It would allow children to learn more about poems and the book has many of the original Mother Goose rhymes in the front and back cover.
This is a bed time poem for children that includes all the famous Mother Goose characters. It features Jack and Jill; the cow, the moon, and the fiddle; Humpty Dumpty; and Old King Cole. It has a lot of rhyming and makes connections to other poems children may already know or could be introduced to.
