Mehso-so

I wanted to like this book a lot more than I did. YA gay sci-fi - what could be wrong with that? Some of the central storylines weren't well developed and the message of the book seems to be anti-revolutionary (which feels odd for YA) and we're supposed to believe that the main character would prefer to be a slave to being liberated. Some parts of it were interesting but overall I was disappointed.

We temporarily abandoned this as our read aloud book when the new Harry Potter was available but my partner and I are turning back to this one for our drive up to cottage country tonight. Castor is a #Netgalley find that is a sci-fi folks-colonizing-other-planets, young-servant-boy-falls-in-love-with-master's-son, people-plan-to-rise-up kind of tale. #queerbooks #queerscifi

Sue I love finding obscure but awesome stuff on netgalley. This sounds great! 8y
BookishFeminist Oo I think I'll request this on Netgalley now! Love that you and your partner read aloud to each other. 8y
