A gorgeously drawn graphic novel reminiscent of stained glass and illuminated manuscripts, telling a story of queer transmasc romance, daring adventure, and (literally) fighting your demons. Jules is a trans man trapped in his life as a nun. The devil that the convent guards against offers him a deal to escape: an illicit tryst and lifelong possession. Jules takes the deal, and begins his new life as a criminal who's impervious to harm. He soon meets Casper, another trans man and a poetic thief, and together they steal, lie, and cheat their way through bewildering adventures, and develop feelings for each other along the way. But as Jules and Casper's relationship deepens, so does the devil's jealous grasp...

Pickpick

Low pick 3.5 ⭐

An adult comic. The book itself is gorgeous. I love the art and the gold sprayed edges. The book started strong but the language got a bit muddled. I liked the idea of the story but not so much the execution. Still it is very pretty.

This gorgeous comic is about a trans boy who has to escape a nunnery, and then becomes a thief.

I love the juxtaposition of the story set in what appears to be medieval times but the artists keeps sneaking in modern things like this page with the cell phone 🤣😍

I am really enjoyed the art in the comic, and also the humor - as they talk about all of the horrors we use to put people through when we didn't know how to "cure"

"I'm preparing the arsenic and rosewater enema as fast as I can!! Should I put lead in it?"
"Maybe we should add cocaine"
?

My January reading. The tagged was fantastic, and reviews are hilariously divided between trans-mascs giving it a 5/5 and everyone else giving it 1-3. Two trans men be gay and do crime with one brain cell between them. Explicit on-page sex, though completely different from Adversary's. No hate reads this month, though some I definitely bounced off. And I finally finished Balefire! It's good, I just struggled for no reason.

PuddleJumper I'm stuck at Draakenwood. I still really enjoy the series but I'm starting to enjoy his other works more 4mo
Faranae @PuddleJumper Honestly, the same has happened to me! He's just grown *so much* as a writer since the Widdershins books. I'm still happy to read them, but I've re-read The Forgotten Dead 3x and still haven't started Deosil. 😅 4mo
