pickI enjoyed this story although entirely too many words were used to tell it—I skimmed sections of it without losing any of the plot. Elliott is an excellent world builder, something on full display in this fantasy about a deputy courier who must escort a prince on a journey fraught with danger, secrets, & murder. Entertaining but occasionally dense, this is the first in a duology. I liked it enough it‘s a pick & to look forward to the next book.
