When We Were Rich | 
so-soEngagingly written and compelling enough, but I found something about this novel to be depressing. The characters aren't very likeable and, while it did maintain my interest throughout, it didn't have any redeeming positive resolutions or outcomes. Even the ending, featuring a 'baptism', didn't provide much in the way of optimism - which I really needed at that point.
