Somewhere Out There: A Novel | Amy Hatvany
5 posts | 6 read | 11 to read
What happens when two sisters who were torn apart when their young mother abandoned themand grew up in tragically different circumstancesreunite thirty-five years later to find her? For readers who love Jodi Picoult, acclaimed author Amy Hatvany fearlessly explores complex family issues in her gripping, provocative new novel.Natalie Clark knew never to ask her sensitive adoptive mother questions about her past. She doesnt even know her birth mothers nameonly that the young woman signed parental rights over to the state when Natalie was a baby. Now Natalies own daughter must complete a family tree project for school, and Natalie is determined to unearth the truth about her roots. Brooke Walker doesnt have a family. At least, thats what she tells herself after being separated from her mother and her little sister at age four. Having grown up in a state facility and countless foster homes, Brooke survives the only way she knows how, by relying on herself. So when she discovers shes pregnant, Brooke faces a heart-wrenching decision: give up her baby or raise the child completely on her own. Scared and confused, she feels lost until a surprise encounter gives her hope for the future. How do our early experiencesthe subtle and the traumaticdefine us as adults? How do we build relationships when weve been deprived of real connection? Critically acclaimed author Amy Hatvany considers controversial and complicated questions about childhood through the lens of her finely crafted characters in this astute novel about mending wounds by diving into the truth of what first tore us apart.

Last week I sent my box priority mail for someone from US🤔I asked if it would arrive on time, he said that it would depend on the electricity at the airport but me and my optimistic attitude told him that it would arrive on time😊He just looked at me sckeptical☺️Anyway, I just waited for some books I ordered since bookstore opened recently.I'm receiving everything late but they are arriving.I hope the person likes it #AlhalloweenReadBookExchange

Gissy @aroc I apologize. None of the packages I sent priority mail had arrived?I hope you get it tomorrow?Let me know. I haven't received mine from this swap either. Maybe it's for the same reason, a mail delay after hurricane María. 6y
Gissy @aroc Did you receive your package? I sent three packages the same day but it seems no one had received anything? 6y
aroc @Gissy Nope! Nothing yet! 6y
Gissy @aroc I checked my receipt, it was to arrived on Oct 30th same with the other two packages I sent through priority mail. However, one of those persons from Litsy informed me that she has not had received the package and when I checked the tracking number says that the 3 packages are in transit. I'm so sorry! I haven't received mine either from #AlhalloweenReadBookExchange so I think the problem is our mail service. @MaleficentBookDragon @JenlovesJT47 6y

K so the cover is a little embarrassing but I thought it was a good read. About the effects of adoption.
