7th book in this series. I‘m really enjoying this YA series. This book didn‘t disappoint me. Full of actions, various twists, sad and funny scenes. We see some characters from Six of crow duology. Many characters can be described as “Ulfleden-wolf-blooded” which means “when a child is odd, behaves strangely...her (his) place is with the wolves...she (he) doesn‘t belong”. I think I‘m wolf-blooded, welcome to the pack 🐺 3.8/4⭐️

A group of friends born in the bayou are connected by the date of birth. Everyone in the community has some kind of extrasensorial “gift. Thirteen years ago 2 children were murdered and in the present one girl is missing. Grey wants to discover what happened to Elora and see if her disappearance is connected with what happened in the past. Interesting twists, a little too long, sometimes Grey is annoying but in general, I enjoyed it. 3/3.5⭐️

Book read last week. Book 2 in this series. I enjoyed this one better that the first book. I like this peculiar psychotherapist character with maybe “odd” personality but she is so assertive in some areas. I still think that she takes some decisions that could be questionable in the real clinical environment but this is a novel. Ready to read book 3. 3.8⭐️

Another book read last week. This is book 6 in the series but is more a companion novel. Some different characters but in the same world. I really enjoyed this one, the plot the characters, the action. Predictable? Maybe but it was a fast read. Waiting to read the last book for now, next year there will be a new book in the series. 3.8/4⭐️

Gissy @mabell I love Marshall‘s. I was on the line waiting for my turn to pay and that beauty was in a corner at the bottom of one shelf, alone, calling me to come home with me😜I couldn‘t resist it. I love Halloween and every year I buy like one item to my collection. This year was the 🫖 🤗

Listen I‘m still waiting for one book to send the box. It has taken for ever to arrive. As soon as it arrives, I will send you the box.

Gissy @mabell Don‘t worry! In my case is that one book will arrive too late according to the notification I received, but I will send the box and I can send that book later. I hope you had a great day. I went to a friend‘s house and we were trying to bake a pumpkin loaf and it was ok☺️I feel that I need to run like 6 miles🤣 21h
mabell @Gissy It‘s no rush! No need to send the book separately! It‘s always just fun to receive and give the packages! 😄 We had a good, whirlwind day! Pumpkin loaf sounds very yummy! It is super gory, dark and violent. There is one small part where animal cruelty was committed by one of the characters. It is like sci-fi horror. I think is YA. It is better if you go blind. If you liked those old movies like Alien where a strange creatures are inside of people you will like this one. Like most of horror movies, unreal but I liked it🤷🏽‍♀️I like the way characters were described. It was also sad.3.9/4⭐️As a YA horror story

This one was a different vampire story. For me all characters were so annoying but that Carter, please, a psychiatrist who was so manipulative and psychological abuser. Terrible. But you have to read the story. I think it was more character driven, maybe that was why I enjoyed it more. Absurd but interesting. 3.8⭐️

Witches display their magic depend on the season they born. Everwitches have the magic in the four seasons. But their power is so strong that can kill those connected to them if they cannot control the magic. This is the story of Clara who has decided that she doesn‘t want to be an ever witch. Is she going to be stripped (exhaust her magic) during next eclipse or not? It was ok with some YA cheesy romance but I enjoyed it. I‘m in fall mood 3.4⭐️

I enjoyed so much this book. I will like to know if the rituals mentioned in the books are the way some persons practice them, because I have heard different variations of this celebration. But the idea is so lovely. I loved that end, the acceptance and support of Yadriel‘s father. Julian is so funny a little bit emotional☺️and Maritza so lovely. At the of the audio, the author said is thinking to write a sequel from Julian‘s perspective. 3.4⭐️

This book was something different to what I expected. It is dark, gory and violent. I analyzed it from a mental health perspective and it was so sad😢dysfunctional family, lack of tx., refuse of meds, low self esteem, no social support, rejection because he was gay, and almost a rape were the factors present in one of the characters who became violent. Those phrases in his diary were devastate. But it has an end with hope. I love Allister. 3.5⭐️

mabell Love this photo! What a gorgeous place to run! (I would be walking that hill 😆) Is that the top of a cruise ship in the background? 1mo
Chrissyreadit Slow and steady finishes the race ❤️❤️❤️ AMAZING 1mo
Gissy @mabell That is one of the entrance to Old San Juan. At the end of that street you will see the cruise docks if I‘m correct in the word. At my right,(your left) you see San Cristobal Fort and like 2/3 minutes running, is El Morro Fort. The street is empty because it was early in the morning but Old SJ is always full of tourists and locals. That day there was a 5k race sponsored by a breast cancer organization. There is always an event in Old SJ. 1mo
StayCurious everything looks great to me! I'm so impressed - great job! 1mo
WanderingBookaneer ¡La cuesta de la Norza Garay! Ufff 1mo
Gissy @WanderingBookaneer Así mismo! La subo ya no tan rápido. Los años pasan y te pasan factura😆 1mo
mabell My memory is fuzzy on Old San Juan, when I visited I stayed with friends in Humacao, so we did a little bit in different places. I remember the beach and El Yunque - it‘s been too many years! I‘d love to go back and revisit. 🇵🇷 It seems like it would be tough to have an event in the middle of such a busy place! 1mo
Gissy @mabell Yes! PR has changed specially after Maria Hurricane, earthquakes and the pandemic. But there are fun activities to do. When I visit SJ, I go early in the morning and when people start to arrive, after mid day I‘m out of the place😅In terms of running, Old SJ and Condado is on our route all the time. There are 5 miles from Central Park to SJ and 5 to return. Four if we decide to do less miles. To Condado is more or less the same. 1mo

Not book related but this is my other passion. We did the virtual 125th Boston Marathon. We started at 4:17 am and it took me forever to finish it but I did it, I‘m a finisher. I‘m the one with blue shirt, my friend arrived yesterday at night from London, 2 marathons in one week. I admire her. Virtual events are so good when you can‘t travel. We had a supportive group of friends during the race. We also celebrated my birthday. Now to read📖

Jane Eyre | Charlotte Bront

Pickpick

I read this one long time ago so this re-read was like the first time. This novel can be annoying and controversial in the treatment/position of women in that era; religion; and the cheesy romance we see. But maybe I love it because of that, a general overview of the era. Jane was different, trying to be genuine, independent even in that historical circumstance. Still she lived in the era, so you will see those traces. I still loved it 5⭐️

Gissy Live these editions.I read the edition in the center. Still want some other pretty editions.

The Haunting of Hill House | Shirley Jackson

Pickpick

Maybe not too spooky but it has elements of supernatural creatures/elements. This book is also sad because there are traces of insanity and that end? So sad😢I liked the story of these persons spending some days in this apparently haunted house. I saw some psychological aspects and maybe that is why I liked it. The tv series more than an adaptation is a version of the book, so different from the book but I‘m enjoying it. 3.8⭐️

Ruthiella I think I liked the psychological aspects of this book best. It makes me ask what is real and what is imagined? 2mo

Mehso-so

Mixed feelings with this one. I enjoyed the different stories about these three sisters narrated in the book but in my opinion, they were not well integrated like a whole story. But I‘m intrigued and want to read the second book and the whole series. I enjoyed the movie adaptation. It was different, more spooky. I still think is better to read the book first even when I liked the movie better. 3.5That cover😍
