The Barbarian Way
The Barbarian Way: Unleash the Untamed Faith Within | Erwin Raphael McManus
Two thousand years later the call to follow Christ has been repackaged to be smooth and trouble-free, filled with opportunity and promise but lacking risk, passion, and sacrifice. Is this really what Jesus died for? If He chose the way of the cross, where would He hesitate leading us? Is it possible that to follow Jesus is to choose the barbarian way? Jesus never made a pristine call to a proper or safe religion. Jesus beckons His followers to a path that is far from the easy road. It is a path filled with adventure, uncertainty, and unlimited possibilities?the only path that can fulfill the deepest longings and desires of your heart. This is the barbarian way: to give your heart to the only One who can make you fully alive. To love Him with simplicity and intensity. To unleash the untamed faith within. To be consumed by the presence of a passionate and compassionate God. To go where He sends you, no matter the cost.

Watched these three movies over the last two days and only liked They/Them. Mid-Century was just awful and Barbarian was such a disappointment. At least I get points for #scarathlon2022 🤷🏼‍♀️?! #teamslaughter

TheRiehlDeal My brother and I just finished Barbarian. We liked it. What about it did you find disappointing? 2y
candc320 @TheRiehlDeal I had such high hopes for it and just didn‘t find it that scary. It was definitely unsettling and pretty gross at times, but thought the whole thing with Justin Long was dumb. It broke it up in a weird way and I probably would have enjoyed it better if it was just the girl‘s story. It reminded me of Hereditary and I didn‘t like that one either 🤣. 2y
TheRiehlDeal @candc320 I thought it was nice to add a bit of comedy to break up the seriousness of the movie. I‘m not sure where the movie could‘ve went if it just focused on Tess. Looking back on it, I think it makes sense for Justin‘s character to go back to the house (which I saw coming, btw) to add more to the story. I didn‘t get any Hereditary vibes from watching this. 🤷‍♂️ I thought it was its own thing. 2y
candc320 @TheRiehlDeal I get that. I think I just like a different kind of scary. To each their own! 2y
