Happy #bookishbirthday to Richard Matheson! Along with Ray Bradbury, his shadow looms large over modern genre fiction - he wrote some of the best known Twilight Zone episodes, and Stephen King cites him as a major, key influence. Absolutely worth tracking down if you haven't. His stories are tight as a drum and bound to chill you to the bone.
DogMomIrene I am a big chicken when it comes to anything scary, but I read I Am Legend because so many readers were upset with the movie. His story blew me away without making me feel like I had to open every cabinet in the kitchen to check for the scary things lurking there. I consider that achievement a huge win! Need to read more of his books. 8y
