Story of My Life
Story of My Life: The Autobiography of George Sand | George Sand
4 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
Thelma Jurgrau coordinated and edited the efforts of 65 translators to produce this faithful and readable rendering of the complete Histoire de ma vie, working from the French edition of 1970 which was edited by Georges Lubin and published by Gallimard. The story Sand (1804-1876) tells in her autobiography (1847-1854) is that of a woman making her way in a man's world; it's also a sweeping history of French society in the first half of the 19th century. Great scholarship and skill by all involved. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

George Sand. My hero. She lead the life she wanted, she provided for herself, her children, her lovers, her friends. She wrote every day, well, every night. Not a lot of her novels are read now. But her autobiography is worth reading. #septphotochallenge #greatquotes
