His sentences didn't seem to have any verbs, which was par for a politician. All nouns, no action.

Bonus points for the grammar joke.

Vansa I love Jennifer Crusie! I found this a weird book though 3y
charl08 @Vansa I just love her sense of humour. 3y

Mehso-so

I've been in a real reading rut lately. This is one I'd read before years ago, but I didn't get much enjoyment out of it this time around. The protagonist couple irked me; I took to just reading the secondary characters' interactions and thus skipped vast swaths of the book.

esurient Pros: The dialogue is snappy, Crusie's trademark dogs appear (cute puppy is nursed back to health!), many satisfying scenes showing how the ex is such, such a dweeb. 5y
esurient Cons: Much of the snappy dialogue is the protagonist couple sniping at each other, much of the book has the protagonist couple lying to each other, the build and reveal for the mystery was sluggish and poorly paced. (edited) 5y
esurient If I could rewrite this one, I'd switch the genre to straight fiction with a balanced ensemble cast developing the small-town radio workplace more, romance backburnered or eliminated all together. 5y
