I‘ve only been meaning to do this for 13 years now - since my son came home from Ethiopia. I love dark injera (100% teff), but we‘ve always purchased it from shops because it‘s been more convenient. But not THAT convenient because the shops are an hour away so I really should learn to make it so that we can eat Ethiopian whenever we wish. 😋 Wish me luck, it‘s a 7 day ferment and the griddle execution requires practice. 🤞🏾🤞🏾

ElleSkel Good luck! 3y
Andrea4 My god that sounds delicious!!! 3y
ravenlee I‘ve always wanted to try making it (especially now that we have no Ethiopian restaurant within driving distance) but it‘s...daunting...for sure. Good luck! 3y

TEArificbooks I have been looking at this cookbook for days. I am thinking of buying it. 3y
mcipher I just went down such a rabbit hole with this post! I‘ve never had Ethiopian food but I‘m planning to try making slightly non-authentic injera and doro wat this week because both sound delicious! 3y
Tamra @mdm139 I really like it - but if you can check it out from the library first that would be advisable. 3y
Tamra @mcipher yay! You can sub a flat bread or rice, but it isn‘t quite the same delicious experience. I recommend purchasing both Berbere and the spiced butter if you have access to Ethiopian shops. Otherwise you can purchase Berbere online and is excellent to also use for grilling veggies and chicken. 3y
Texreader I found an “easy” recipe for it on Pinterest (and posted it there), but when it said I needed sourdough starter I knew that it wasn‘t going to happen. Good luck!! @Butterfinger 3y
Butterfinger Would you please be willing to be our ambassador for March? Just continue with posts like this one - what your son experienced, pictures. We haven't found an Ethiopian Litsy member. ❤️❤️#FoodandLit 3y
Tamra @Butterfinger if I can remember to I will! I start another grad class next week so between that, work, and family my life isn‘t my own. My kids were babies when they came to us so they don‘t have any memories of their own. 3y
Tamra @Texreader 😆 I have a 24 hour recipe - but I decided to give the traditional one a go first. 3y
Texreader So anxious to hear how it goes!! 3y
Texreader Ditto @Butterfinger‘s request. I would love to hear about your son‘s experiences there. 3y
Tamra @Texreader my kids were babies when they left. Son 3 months and daughter 16 mo so they don‘t have any memories of their experiences. 3y
Texreader @Tamra a#Ahhh! I didn‘t read your response to @Butterfinger ☺️ Sorry about that! But still so cool to have added incentive for all the Ethiopian cooking! 3y
Tamra @Texreader no worries! Funny thing is my son isn‘t fond of injera or Ethiopian food in general. 😩 Perhaps over time. (edited) 3y
Texreader @Tamra That‘s a bummer! But looking at the recipes I‘m not sure I‘d be very keen on it as a kid. 3y
Butterfinger What a wonderful story!!! Our local newsman adopted a little boy from Ethiopia. So we were able to go through the journey through his eyes. Thanks for sharing. 3y
