Pickpick

Well, I finally finished this! Not in time to partake in the #AnnaKareninaReadAlong but I did have fun going back and reading those posts. This was a book I‘ve been meaning to tackle for years and it did not disappoint. So much more than a tortured love story, I loved the sweeping philosophical musings as well as the smaller, intimate scenes between characters. A true pick for me.

suvata So good 6y
Cortg This has been on my TBR for a long time. Someday. 6y

It took me 6 weeks to read Anna Karenina for the #annakareninareadalong, but only 24 hours to read The Mysterious Affair at Styles for the #agathachristieclub...

Anyway, litsy has done it again and changed my reading plans. I'm joining in the #earthseachapteraday! Excited to read more by the amazing Ursula K LeGuin, who I mostly discovered due to @DivaDiane - thank you for that!

@2BR02B

DivaDiane My pleasure! 6y

I know I'm really, really late, but I've finally finished this book. Glad I've done this, but I admit I was unnerved by it at some point. Still not a bad book.

#AnnaKareninaReadAlong

ju.ca.no I still havn‘t finished it🙈 6y
Sisasuku @ju.ca.no Glad I'm not the only one who is late. But Levin's endless musings about agriculture, death, and the meaning of life made this one really hard for me. 6y
RaimeyGallant I'm late on this one too. 6y

My January was pretty stressy, so not enough reading time for my taste... I didn‘t manage to keep up with the #AnnaKareninaReadAlong and will try to finish it in February @Theresa and I‘ve only read two books for the #MountTBRchallenge @DivaDiane
I‘m expecting more reading time in February 😊

DivaDiane Seems pretty good to me for a stressful month!! 6y
ju.ca.no @DivaDiane ah well, the graphic novels were just super quick reads for me😊 I was hoping on finishing more books of my TBR Pile😅 6y
ephemeralwaltz 6 is a GREAT reading month in my book! 👏👏 I need to try some graphic novels -- I haven't read one in ages! 6y
ju.ca.no @ephemeralwaltz I hardly ever read graphic novels but I enjoy it very much, I‘m really glad I managed to read a view this year already 😊 hopefully I can keep this up! 6y

Rachbb3 That is a question I asked myself after reading the book and cpuldnt come up with an answer. The book gave equal attention to Levin and Kitty's story and I wondered, why Anna? I'd be interested to see what others think. 6y
Ash.on.the.line I feel like Anna‘s decision affected all the other characters in some way or another. We got Levin‘s story but it didn‘t have the same effect as Anna‘s at least in my opinion of course lol. 6y
DrexEdit @Ash.on.the.line I agree. It was Anna's choices that made all the other stories happen. 6y
Tameeka I wondered why name the book after Anna too. I have to agree with the other comments that Anna's decisions rippled out to the people around her. 6y

Erin7 To be honest, I enjoyed it as an academic exercise and see why it‘s a classic. There were parts of the story that I just loved but other parts that really dragged for me. 6y
DrexEdit I loved it. I can see why it's widely considered not just a classic, but a masterpiece. 6y
Rachbb3 Loved it!!! The rest of the books I read in 2018 are going to have to be pretty spectacular to beat it. 💟 6y

Austen_Nerd I loved it! I am so glad I finished it tonight, I knew what choice Anna was going to make. when I read how he saw her after her death. I cried. (edited) 6y
Ash.on.the.line Loved it! Tolstoy had such a beautiful flow to the story. It draws you in! 6y
Brenda Loved it! 6y
Theresa I feel like I'm going against the grain, but, although I loved the book thru part 6, it kind of dropped off for me in the last 2 parts. Maybe it's because I knew what happened to Anna (damn you, Wikipedia, & your spoilers 😜) . I still liked the book, my impression just fell from lived to liked at the end. 6y

I failed miserably! I tried, I really did try to read along the rest of my fellow littens taking part on it but it seems it just wasn't in the stars, at least not this time. Hopefully I'll be able to read it soon ☺

@Theresa

CoverToCoverGirl I was absolutely defeated by that book too but I didn‘t surrender without struggle either! 😬 However I have absolutely resolved to never look at it again! 😁 (edited) 6y
DrexEdit No biggie. Maybe you'll come back to it one day. Or maybe it's just not a book-match for you! 😊 👍 6y
Austen_Nerd Maybe now is not the time for this story in your life. maybe another day or year🤓 6y
Theresa This is a guilt-free zone. So it didn't work out, no big deal. 😄 6y
JoRead @CoverToCoverGirl I started it but then life happened. @DrexEdit @Austen_Nerd @Theresa You guys are right, the timing wasn't right. And you know what they say, timing is everything ☺😊 6y

There are still a few hours left in the month, at least here in the eastern time zone, but I'm getting a jump on things by starting the wrap-up conversation.
