First 5 star ⭐️ read of the year!! Highly recommend, go read this one, you won‘t be sorry.
First 5 star ⭐️ read of the year!! Highly recommend, go read this one, you won‘t be sorry.
I didn‘t know she wrote outside of paranormal romance and wow this is no romance! An unreliable narrator, and a small cul de sac, where everyone is in everyone‘s business which makes literally everyone a suspect in a 10 year missing person turned murder case. If you like whodunnits this one will keep you guessing
I‘ve got a bit of catching up to do, slowly but surely I will make it through this series. They are a great palette cleanser after too much lit fic
Another good one from Jane Harper. Her writing is so atmospheric, the place is always a character and this one is no different. A slow burn, building and building never letting you guess what‘s coming. I‘ve done all her books on audio and they are great that way, the narrator, Stephen Shanahan does a fantastic job
Overall a really great collection of sci-fi short stories. Well worth picking up. Jemisin is definitely a must read and this is a great introduction to her if you don‘t want to commit to a series right away.
Lucky me finding this on the fast track shelf at the library on release day!!! Can‘t wait to dive deep into this one!!
Reading for RL book club. Not really loving it. Just not caring about any of the characters. Are people loving this? Is it just me?
One of my best reads of the year. Wow! The writing is awesome, the story would be unbelievable if it wasn‘t so real, and the pace is fast. Trigger warning for excessive violence. Man oh man, this was so very good.
Some coffee to compensate for all the sleeping going on inside this book.
Well this was frickin awesome! Every bit as good as you‘ve heard. Lives up to all the hype. Just read it if you haven‘t yet.
Finally starting this award winning series. And yes, I have books 2 & 3, so no waiting.
Does not disappoint. It is a slow burn. Like over 150 pages of build up, but worth every page, as the rest of the book really takes off and doesn‘t stop.
How great is it when a book lives up to your very high expectations! Another winner by Kate Atkinson.
This book. ❤️❤️❤️
Ya know how sometimes it seems the author is speaking directly to you? Well, this book was written specifically for me. Thank you Ms Cain.
Man oh man, is there going to be discussions at book club.
This was a five star read for me because there is so much to think about and discuss. I have very strong feelings about many of the characters, what they did and why they did it. If a book makes me think that much, it deserves all the stars.
Excellent but so frustrating. I wanted to punch someone while reading this, and I‘m Canadian!! I don‘t know how you live with this nonsense directly impacting your lives all the time. Strength to all of you.
I know I should love everything about this. The MC is a true book lover and isn‘t afraid to let people know. A then and now time line, a bit of a mystery and a bit of a romance. Check, check, check and check.
And yet, something about this book wasn‘t checking a certain box and I don‘t know what it was. It wasn‘t bad at all. It was totally fine. Which sounds like a dis, but totally fine is just that. Glad I read it, very glad I read in 2 days.
The new Kate Atkinson, and I can‘t get to it fast enough. Also, #its5oclocksomewhere
Plugging away. Will have book 2 finished by discussion time today. Overall I‘m liking it but lord, I can do without the descriptions of things that should be 2 pages being 30 pages. Yes, Waterloo, yes convent of Petit-Picpus, I‘m talking to you!!! #lesmisbuddyread @Kalalalatja @vivastory
Just got back from vacation, then took both girls back to university, so just starting this one today. I‘m already stressed as I‘m still also reading The Brothers Karamazov, what did I get myself into!! #lesmisbuddyread @Kalalalatja @vivastory
So this book is a lot better than I originally thought. As I thought it was the final book in the series and I was not a happy camper. But now I know better and like it much more.
On vacay with the family, getting only a little car reading in between sight seeing. #peggyscove #novascotia
Slower than I‘d like but moving along. Where‘s everyone else in this doorstopper? #myvodkabromance #bkbuddyread
This was fantastic! Who would ever have thought the world of salmon fly tying was so hard core? Fascinating history and a page turning heist all at once. Highly recommend.
I love Chabon. Read this one already but from the library. The other two, long time tbr‘s that can now physically stare back at me unread instead of just being on some list. #bookhaul #thriftstore
So until I kept seeing her newer books popping up all over Litsy I‘d never heard of Colleen Hoover. People, how was this possible? This was so good. I loved it! Read it in basically one sitting. It makes me wonder about all the other authors who somehow have been missed by me. #blameitonLitsy
A crazy fever dream of a book. I didn‘t know what was real and what was imagined. But I couldn‘t stop reading. A book about grief, and a woman‘s darkest thoughts while she travel alone to a Cuban horror movie festival. While I was all, wtf, while reading it, now that I‘ve finished I can‘t stop thinking about it.
I need to finish off all these YA series I start. Considering I read the first in this series in 2013, I think this is spaced out enough, right @Mitch ?
For a middle book of a trilogy, it was pretty good. Plot moved along and I really have no clue where the next book will go. I‘m not reading the next one just yet (too many library books checked out!) but I won‘t wait 5 years!
Jumping into the next couple of #buddyreads As a reward Indigo let me get this super cute tote for a mere fraction of the regular price.
I like big books and all, but Les Miz is kinda scaring me! #myvodkabromance #bkbuddyread
Smugly! I love it! A line every one of us has spoken, and spoken smugly!
This book was a pretty easy read, some heavier overall themes but handled without weighing down the book. If you love a road trip book, where people discover stuff about themselves, this ones for you.
This was quite good. A story, told from the POV of each family member a decade apart. So the fathers story told in the mid ‘60‘s, moms mid ‘70‘s daughters mid 80‘s. It shows how complicated, fragile, and connected a family really is. How what we do and say and feel, truly affect those around us.
If you are turned off by the Oprah endorsement, don‘t be. This one is excellent. It lives up to the hype. Raises many questions that have no right or wrong answers. Another great book club pick for my real life group, yay us!!
So I beat my January time by 2:00 hours! Started and finished 2 books, one a 9 hour audio! And made a dent in 2 new books. Great weekend @24in48 Thanks. #24in48
I won‘t make it, but am really going to try to hit the 20 hour mark. Starting this one tonight, the premise looks great, I‘ve been meaning to read it for months. So thanks @24in48 for giving me the push I needed. #24in48
Holy f*ck! This book! Put me in the absolutely loved it camp. I have a page of notes, questions and thoughts, way too long for here, but great for my next book club meeting!
So much to think about. My only suggestion if you read this, and you should, is make someone else read with you, you‘re going to want to discuss this one with someone. #24in48
