julesG Fiction or non-fiction? 6y
julesG I think one of the questions you need to ask yourself is, how far do you want to go back? European history is full of small and bigger wars. In school, as well as at university, the French Revolution is seen as the first step into what is modern Europe. A lot of events can be tied back to the events the FR set in motion. Anyway, most historians will agree that Imperialism, Militarism, and Nationalism were the key factors. Your research should... 6y
julesG ...start with these. That would mean, around 1870s/1880s. I cannot recommend any specific non-fiction books, nor a lot of fiction. Still, if you haven't read it yet, read the following book. 6y
