Games Untold | Jennifer Lynn Barnes

A group of short stories. I love this series and the characters so this was enjoyable. That being said, I would much rather have had a full, complete story to continue the series.

This is my June #BookSpin book, a #Roll100 book & from my #14Books14Weeks list.

Hawk O'Toole's Hostage | Sandra Brown

Aside from constantly being distracted by the male cover model‘s Howard Wolowitzish haircut I enjoyed this older Sandra Brown. Hawk was a precursor to the wonderful heroes Ms. Brown would later write in her romantic mystery/suspense books, though at times he was almost too mean to the heroine. The heroine is spunky and likable, with a son who was cute without being precocious. The resolution at the end was a little rushed, but very satisfying.

Nebklvr I thought of Howard immediately. 😂 1d

I loved this book!!!! The characters were spot on. Loved how the ending was done. Can't to read more by this author. Gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

10/10 ⭐ #bookreview

I can definitely say, that Lynn Painter writes beautifully. I liked how this book, came from two different points of views, and that both of the characters were different. This is an amazing love story, and I really enjoyed reading it.

I have this one in print too. Going to bail on the audio, it‘s hard to follow and my mind wanders.

3✨I‘m glad I stuck this one out. Each book in the series followed a different high school student, and this started out rocky for me. Withholding the truth or lying is not something I like in a character, but when the truth came out it was pretty interesting after that. This is the last book in the series. #SeriesLove @TheSpineView @Andrew65

“‘While the meaning of a book may be informed by the author‘s intentions, it isn‘t defined by them” (of 67).
This is a wow statement that I think is important to remember as readers take on a book. It‘s how we interpret and understand books that make them what they are to us, the author does not define everything in it so that the reader is left to their own devices. Students should know and learn that early in their learning journey.

Makaylaholton I totally agree. It‘s honestly so liberating for readers to realize that their own experiences and ideas shape a book‘s meaning just as much as the author‘s original intent. Teaching students this early helps them become confident and critical readers who can bring their different perspectives to what they read which is so important.

“You learn more about the story and you also learn more about yourself as a reader…” (pg 32).
This is the part where the students are told they‘re going to read Harriet the Spy, some of them had already read it and this is what the teacher had to say about reading books over again. I thought it was such a good takeaway to remember even for us in college, reading books over again can be important and teach you even more than you can imagine
