This one was okay. Every since I read #deathless I‘ve been reading a lot of Russian folklore/ fairytales. While this one certainly had those elements (not just Russian folklore), it didn‘t live up to my expectations. It was far more about love and finding yourself than exploring the stories. One of the sisters had their viewpoint in verse.. Not sure why.

I think it is also more YA than adult. #fairytales #jew #judaism #bear #swan

IndyHannaJones I love Deathless 6y
IndyHannaJones You should read Egg and Spoon. I love Baba Yaga in it. I loooove Russian based fantasy stories. 6y
IndyHannaJones I liked that Laya's story was in verse. She's a swan, flighty and light. Her perspective would've been the same. 6y
Conservio @IndyHannaJones I loved Deathless! Have you read The Bear and the Nightingale? Is Egg and Spoon an anthology or a novel? 6y
IndyHannaJones @Conservio I have indeed read the Bear and the Nightingale. The third book comes out soon. Egg and Spoon is a novel. 6y

Yes!! The next story of Vasya lives up to, if not surpasses, its predecessor, and is perfect for fans of #Uprooted, #Deathless, or #Wintersong. Love the lyrical prose, the atmosphere... Full review- https://springtimelibrarian.wordpress.com/2017/11/30/review-the-girl-in-the-towe...

A 4/5 for me. A must read if you enjoy folklore/ mythology. Anyone have any recommendations for more novels involving Russian folklore? I read #deathless and that was. 5/5 for me. #russia #folklore #winter

From synopsis: "Koschei the Deathless is to Russian folklore what devils or wicked witches are to European culture: a menacing, evil figure; the villain of countless stories which have been passed on through story and text for generations."--Russian Folklore...Sign me up! #deathless #folklore #books #bookworm #booknerd #toberead #amreading

Wow. This book was incredible. I'm not too familiar with Russian folklore/ myths, but Ms. Valente did a fantastic job taking a new spin on Koschei while keeping to the original story. A definite 5/5 for me. #teamkoschei #deathless #april #russia #folklore
