pickI watched the Netflix series and then I listened to the audiobook. The book gives a lot more details about life in the author‘s strict Hasidic community. I found it to be very interesting and informative. However, the Netflix series portrays her exit from the community so much differently than the book that it didn‘t seem like the same story. I‘d be interested to hear what others think about this. #IsItJustMeOrWhat
MallenNC I haven‘t read the book but have it and want to read soon I was obsessed with the series. The documentary about the making of it said the parts in New York were based on the author‘s experience but then Esty‘s escape and her life after were fictional. 4y

rubyslippersreads I‘ve read and watched, and they are so different, it‘s like two completely different stories, except that in both, she escapes a repressive lifestyle and marriage. 4y
