I‘m a longtime fan of Chamberlain‘s— though since discovering her novels over a decade ago, I‘ve tried to ration out her backlog! It‘s hard to believe this one is 23 years old— other than some technology, it has a surprisingly current feel. When Janine‘s daughter doesn‘t make it home from the Brownie camping trip that already deepened the wedge between her and her parents and ex, she‘s determined to bring her home. Gripping, though predictable.

Low Pick 3.5⭐
I love Faith Gardner‘s Jolvix Episodes which is an adult thriller series…so I thought I‘d give one of her YA books a try since it was free. The author painted a bleak picture of a family broken by the tragedy of their missing daughter/sister really well but the pacing tended to get bogged down and it left me not wanting to pick this book back up. And the ending…I don‘t know, I think I wanted a little something more.

It‘s a dark, psychological thriller with a gripping moral dilemma, perfect for anyone who enjoys a story about good people doing bad things. I really want to emphasise that The Cry isn‘t just for thriller readers; anyone who likes ethical grey areas and/or the complexity of modern families will rip through it. Started off well, completely bored me to death in the middle and then had a decent ending.
Hopefully my next book of 2022 will be better 😆

This book started out ok but then just became confusing where the main character had strange interactions with real or imagined characters in the book and was confusing whether it was the past or present. I felt like the ending was underwhelming also for all the build up over the loss of her child. Many elements in this story just left me with me so many questions that I was hesitant to give it a so-so. I finished it though so that a plus 🤣

Wow, what an ending? Harry believes he saw his son who disappeared 5 years ago in a deadly earthquake in Tangiers and tries to track him down. Is he insane like his friends and family think or did he actually see Dillon? A good read/listen
