Read this 4 work as it‘s one of the One Maryland One Book Top 11 this year! A powerful read. It‘s a compilation of Native peoples‘ POV as they all converge at the Oakland Powwow. It was interesting to see how all the characters were connected & their histories. The Powwow scenes were gripping & short as POV kept switching. I was satisfied with the way the story ended.

I really enjoyed this #OneMarylandOneBook choice! The character dynamics were fantastic. So many strong personalities with such different views. Families can be hard! I loved each story and how it all came together in the end. I also loved that it wasn‘t wrapped up in a neat little bow at the end, like life. #SuperSeptember

The Island of Sea Women: A Novel | Lisa See

I took the week off of work to play Florence Nightingale, chauffeur, and administrative assistant for my son after a work injury Friday night. The other kid starts senior year today, 100% online for at least the 1st semester. While waiting for phone calls about dr appointments, I‘m hiding on the porch and starting this #OneMarylandOneBook choice for 2020!

Cortg @MyNamesParadise I am! I work in a public library so I‘m familiar with the program. Our system is hosting 3 virtual book discussions. I‘ve read the OMOB selection for the past 5 or 6 years. I‘m half way through this one and I‘m LOVING it! I think my favorite selection has been King Peggy, I love quirky people and stories. 4y

Cortg @MyNamesParadise I‘m with Anne Arundel County. It‘s a fairly big system and I‘m not the point of contact but I do see the info. I haven‘t read Purple Hibiscus but I have a signed copy waiting. I think OMOB is a great program! ❤️ 4y

Bloodsworth: The True Story of One Man's Triumph over Injustice | Tim Junkin

so-so

Pick for the story, so-so for the writing. This is an amazing story of a failure of the justice system, misuse of a psychological profile, and the tireless fight of an innocent man and his idealistic lawyer to clear his name. The writing is not super compelling and I thought it went too far into the weeds, especially when it came to the trial. The author describes Bloodsworth as a good speaker; it may have done better as a podcast or documentary.
