Motherless Brooklyn: A Novel | Jonathan Lethem

For my current state, I loved the tagged book. A sort of detective novel worth a protagonist suffering from Tourettes. The way he describes his ticks, and people's reactions to them was exactly my type of humour.

For my home state of MN, I would choose Fitzgerald's short story "The Ice Palace".

Wow, what a difficult question! I‘m from Sweden, but I‘ve only read 237 books in Swedish (vs 601 in English and, 120 in Norwegian, 148 in French, 85 in Russian, etc.), and not all of those ARE actually Swedish, but I do remember being very impressed by this book. It‘s sad that I‘m the first person to post about it on Litsy. #whereintheuniverse

Scurvygirl Rhode Island...hmmm I haven‘t read a lot that I would call a favorite from Rhode Island. I did grow up in Massachusetts and NOS4A2 has plenty of parts that take place in Haverhill. 7y

IamIamIam As a New Yorker, specifically a Long Islander, I have to go with The Great Gatsby! I also claim New York City as home so this is another strangely fabulous about NYC.

One of my favourite Dutch books is this one. It is a chunkster that tells about all important things that happened in the 20th century, combined with the friendship between two men and a woman and a bit of religion. Almost too much, but for me it worked fine.

ofbooksandme @BarbaraBB I have a map where I paint if I've read one book from that country and just thinking about it I don't think I've read a Dutch book. I'll be there in a few months on vacation so that might be a good way to get in the mood! 7y

Ficciones | Jorge Luis Borges

My favorite book from Argentina is "Ficciones" (Fictions) by Jorge Luis Borges, one of the best writers of the 20th century in the world. Short stories, magical, mystical, about the universe, about literature, fantasy and fantastic.
Would recommend it to anyone who loves literature. (It's still baffling that he never got a Nobel)
