About this book: Oh my God! I came to this book after reading Okorafor's Who fears death, a sort of those "you might like this". And I LOVED IT. The characters and the story were exactly what I was looking for and the action was so fast and exciting tat I atuall screamed "NOOOO" when I got to the end.

Yvain is, together with Le chevalier de la charrette, the most "classic" of Arthurian romans written by Chrétien de Troyes. It has the romance, the magic and the chivalry that we all know. Yvain is a great knight that makes a mistake against his lady and goes crazy. He loses himself in the woods where he will find his fateful companion: a lion. Yes, a literal lion. Together they will on adventures to make amends to the Lady. What's not to love?

Is anyone else following the Women's World Cup? I took a break from reading the tagged book to watch Argentina's match. So excited for our girls just being there 💚
They have a very interesting fighting story and we're all supporting them here.

Is this book "Hunger games in space"? Yeah, probably. But it's so exciting that I just couldn't put it down and when I ended I actually screamed "whaaaat?" and had to check the next installment. So, if you like actiin and adventure, a few diverse characters and Hunger Games, check it out.

A fantasy written by a woman and before Tolkien? Yes, please.
The inhabitants of Lud-in-the-Mist are very proper law abiding people, but in their borders lies the town of Faerie, with its dangerous fruit. What will happen if said fruit came back to be eaten in the rational town of Lud?
While the writing is a bit pompous and outdated at parts, I found fascinating all the elements of high-fantasy it incorporates, and how funny it is!

This little farce is basically the story of Maître Pierre Pathelin, a lawyer who, thanks to his argumentation skills and a bit of cunning, tries to get some cloth for free. But when he thinks he won it all,karma will put everything back in its place.

It's been three days of + 40°C in a row and I can hardly exist.

Are you a winter or a summer person?

Medieval chivalry again! Cligès might be the most interesting story of Chrétien for philologists but it's super dense to read just for pleasure. It's basically a copy of Thomas d'Angleterre's Tristan (an incomplete story of Tristan and Iseut) but with many long monologues in which Chrétien tries very very hard to show that adultery is wrong (something Thomas didn't care much about).
I wouldn't recommend it (I like it, but also not my fave).

Do you like Steven Universe? A cartoon I HIGHLY recommend, particularly if you have kids, buy I think it's story is enriching for anyone. And Rebecca Sugar, it's creator, is a complete genius and overall adorable person.
This is the story of Ruby and Sapphire, two gems that weren't meant to be together but shocked the world with their choice.

Following @kaye idea, I went for a walk with my audiobook of choice (started the tagged one).
Today was a very hot summer day but, on your typical Buenos Aires' way it was also rainy and the humidity was just awful. 👌
While I live about 40 minutes away from city center, Buenos Aires is a HUGE city so I kind of still live in the city and my view is basically streets and buildings, so I decided to go to the park. Hence the view.

Enjoying the last hours of this summer Sunday and the last minutes of sunlight with this awesome book. The hype was not wrong. I'm loving it.

Is traveling through time actually a good idea? If you already messed up the first time, would you do it again?
I liked the idea behind this book and there were moments when I was really into it, but I don't know, something was off.
Mainly I couldn't connect 100% with the main character and having the story told from his first person perspective didn't help.

Oh my God I'm obsessed with this book, and scientology and Leah Remini's life and strength. Though I knew some of her story before I wasn't aware of the particulars of her life in and after scientology. Leah grew up in the religion, poured her life into the organization and got to be very high up in the hierarchy. But her stubborn nature and the sudden disappearance of a friend make her question it all and leave. A revealing book.

This time in #Medievalbooks one for everyone: Perceval. If you like stories about The Knights of the Round Table, Chrétien de Troyes is your guy. He pretty much invented all the things we now know (including the famous Lancelot and his affair with Guinevere). Perceval is his last book and he kind of died before finishing it and explaining what the Grail is. That gave way to the many stories and Christian speculations!

Mmmmmm...I loved the Alias series but this? Pregnant Jessica Jones and family life has little to do with the character we met on Aliathe previous series. And yeah, she loves Luke Cage but the rest of it felt weird.
The soty involves several well known heroes and it's a bit of a mash up. That I liked and the villain was entertaining but that's about it. I'm going to read the new adaptation (the one from the TV show) now.

I'm pretty sure no one is interested buy my medievalist heart compels me to review this. It was my first book read in Medieval French and it took me sooooo long.
A compilation of 100 short stories, a la Decameron or Canterbury Tales. A bit funny and a bit violent (like most things medieval) it stands as one of the great books of short stories of the period. Of course I loved it, but then again medieval weird humor is my cup of tea.

First book of 2019. What a great idea to have chosen the audiobook. The All-star cast is amazing, but it also adds flavor and a key element to the story. I'm not sure how much I would have liked if I had just read it.
The writing is good. I loved how it's not your typical American zombie story. It's at a global scale and that reflects on the different stories, ways of survival, characters' traits and so on.

When I asked for good audiobooks a while back, someone here recommended me this. Loved it. Hearing about a woman's life in science and also about mental health was a good change from the memories of famous people that I've been listening.
While I'm always for audiobooks being narrated by the authors, it's obvious she's not a narrator or actress adn her voice and tone can be a bit monotonous at times.

I loooooved this book. The drawings are too cute, but also the characters are honest and with a twist. Nimona desperately wants to be sidekick, but the sidekick of a villain. Her power hides a secret and watching her adventures and growth is utterly thrilling. Highly recommend this and, of course, the new adaptation of She-Ra (Netflix) from the same author. Not just for your kids 😉

One of my goals for this year is to be here more (of possible every day) and be more active in the community with challenges, readathons and reading alongs. One of my best things of 2018 was the #SFMBC so I definitely need more of Litsy.

Hour 7 of the readathon, which might not be a lot for some but for me is a great accomplishment. I'm happy I took the time to read this weekend in between all the PhD work.

Looooved this book! The stories were actually scarier than I would like to admit 😁 And the drawings are just beautiful, with a Victorian air but also very modern (I caught glimpses of present-day animation style, for example like Adventure Time).
100% recommended.

While it's hard to rate an omnibus of a comic because it has great moments and some not so much, I can say I truly enjoyed this.
The background story of Jessica and the Purple Man is of course the best but it was good getting to know the chatter first.
I didn't care much about the dating and Avengers part. And the ending...ugh *sighs*

Sooooo glad I picked this audiobook from some you recommended me here. It's one of those rare books that I feel should only exist in audiobook format to be properly enjoyed.
Tina goes through her life story and reflects on beauty, motherhood, relationships, working in a manly environment and the role of women to change those places.
And of course it's hilarious.

It's as "white people problem" as it gets which annoys me a bit. However, it's really funny when it wants to and an easy read with interesting insights into parenting and long term relationships.

A fresh and prefoundly funny coming out and coming of age story. The mistery that adds the presence of Blue and his emails, the falling in love, the questions about identity, friendship, growing up and life itself...all adds up to a good story in what I hope is one in an ever increasing number of diverse stories in the YA world.

Romance can be well done too, you know? The characters were a bit plain and everything was 99% obvious.
I only cared a bit about the music parts, except when it seemed like it was just showing off from the author.

Gorgeous day today in Antwerp. I finished "Simon vs. The homo sapiens agenda" and finally started Other People's Houses. One more week of holidays left: Netherlands here I come!

Right now I'm at Amsterdam Airport waiting for my connection flight to Barcelona (I'll be back here in a few weeks to actually visit the city).
During the flight I managed to finish The music shop and started Simon vs the homo sapiens agenda. Read g and vacations do get along. 💚

I looooove this! Thanks for introducing me to this amazing stories full of magic and jokes that are so silly that are smart.
Wizord, your not so regular wizard, decides to stay on Earth and live like a human. With magic. And a talking koala. Just like any human,right?
But caos arises and some evil forces are sent to fight him. The story is full of intrigue and cliffhangers. I really really want to read what's next.

Beartown is a hockey town. They eat and breath hockey and a promising young team is pretty much the only means for survival for the town.
But what does all that do to a group of kids? To their self-esteem, their values.What happens when we give kids adult-like responsibilities?
With great writing that builds up a perfect tension the novel takes in you in a journey into this town just as they are about to discover who they really are.

I can't believe I forgot to review this!
Great historical fiction about what it means to be alive when the whole world is crumbling because of war and disease. What is death to those who survive? What does family mean and what would we do to protect those we love when everything around us is loss?
A story told from the perspective of 4 girls and women of different ages which is definitely its strongest point.
