"'Connie-May has always been a freak.' I heard Lauren say.'It's like Freaky Friday. Like actually a seven-year-old is trapped in her body. And Kiera looks really, like... awkward.'" pg. 36

This is an allusion and a metaphor because it refers to a movie/show called Freaky Friday. Also, it is metaphor because it compared Connie-May to a seven-year-old, saying that it is trapped in her body.

This was my favorite book that I read as a kid, even though it was long it forced me to keep reading and had to find out what happens next. It has so much detail and action I couldn't stop! #bolducbookworms

HermioneWise I also really liked this book👍 4y

I was reading and found the quote, “Raw Tension Smoldered between them“, this quote really shows how much tension is between them during the argument.

This book was my favorite book as a child because it made me feel brave, and also made me laugh. I used to read this book almost every night because it filled my dreams with contentment. I also like the rhymes, which taught me early about reading vocabulary. The illustrations helped me visually experience the setting.

Nat_Panda1221 Definitely! I completely loved this book as a child and it was great to learn new things. especially to learn a little of another language. This book is filled with adventure that never ends. 4y
GD Gadolinium This was also a very memorable book and I even have this exact one!

"She looked out dreamily to sea. "Oh, Ron Weasley... you fictional ginger stud."'" pg.31

This is an allusion because it refers to a famous character, Ron Weasley from Harry Potter.

"I picked up my bright blue Christmas bath bomb and cupped it in my hands under the water. It started to fizz and come alive." pg. 2

This is personification because a bath bomb can't come alive, it's an inanimate object.
#bolducbookworms #readingcandy

Nat_Panda1221 This is a great quote. I completely agree that this quote is personification. why is the character picking the bath bomb up? How would the bath bomb come alive and why would the author choose to say this word? I believe that when the author says come alive it means to bubble a lot and to be full of color. What do you think? 4y
thesnaccthatstrikesbacc nice personification with fizz and come alive

This book really touched my heart. It filled me with compassion, and I could really feel the troubles each of them went through. I would definitely read this book again, and possibly purchase the book for myself.

GD Gadolinium I've read this book as well and loved the plot of each story and could feel their struggles which is something that doesn't happen to me with many books. Overall I thought it was a great book.

BookPanda @GD Gadolinium I honestly feel the same. I loved when they explained the significance of the troubles that occurred. I enjoyed the plot of the book, and how smoothly it runs throughout the book. 4y
bishopwatchestheoffice I have also read this book, and I like how it can relate to all types of people, with the issues with home life and self-identity. 4y

Lovely_one_and_only This was and is likable. The way it uses different time zones that connects in a way, which sounds weird coming from me, I cried at some areas. My mom yelled at me for crying over a book. She told me that I have to stay strong.😅 😂 anyways the book was lovely and I liked it also because it had three totally different people describing there life as refugees. 4y
BookPanda @bishopwatchestheoffice I feel like the newer generations should learn more about home life and identity, as the new millennium is (In my option) becoming better at acknowledging all backgrounds and beliefs, whereas, before the 2000's, many people from different backgrounds were oppressed because of how governments worked at the time. (edited) 4y
bishopwatchestheoffice @PandaOnBamboo2 I completely agree, this generation is great with allowing people of all backgrounds to be who they want to be, I personally attribute this to the fact that schools/parents etc now teach students about different backgrounds/sexualities, and educating them on the history of them. This allows for students to make a future where they don't oppress anyone, educating students on this will only allow for the future more accepting. 4y
Rio Rhino Bird I agree with you all the way
