When we still read together, which is more often than it could be, for sure, Jay and I are working through Land of Stories. It‘s...okay — somewhat predictable and not as well edited as it could be, but the characters are believable and engaging and the plot keeps moving well enough. Jay LOVES it, so that‘s a recc right there. #YA #jayreads

Jay's pick this time, based on his love for the first book in the series. But how can you go wrong with an elevated society of technologically advanced talking bears? You can't. #jayreads

Jay: This book was so funny. I like how the chapters were all different stories, so I never knew what would happen next! #jayreads Me: Couldn't love Pratchett any more, but these were great stories. The first real short stories I have read with Jay, and they were a great hit. Lots of laughs and silliness abounds.

Jay: This book was exciting! I liked all the gross bits and how the BFG won at the end. #jayreads Me: This was a great book, and worth the bribery to start with! We had a lot of fun reading it, and for sure will be reading it again.

I had to bribe him to let me read this one, and every night so far he has begged for more! #jayreads #momwin

Jay: This was a good book. It was really funny and had lots of fighting. I wish there was a movie! #jayreads Me: This was a great read aloud book, with lots of language play and funny bits. The way the author flipped fairy tales on their end was entertaining and clever, and the ending wasn't predictable! We will likely pick up book 2!

From Jay's to-be-read pile (mum + kid reads) -- so far, so good. #jayreads
