A Hero for WondLa | Tony DiTerlizzi
post image

The second book in The WondLa Trilogy, which I reread for my book club‘s July reread theme. I didn‘t remember much at all about this installment, so it was fun to rediscover the storyline‘s intriguing progression. 🔸#junereads2021

This title has been on my TBR for a while. I enjoyed Lisa Congdon‘s richly colorful illustrations as much as the inspiring stories of older women taking on new hobbies, sports, careers, and other challenges at age 40, 60, 80, and beyond! I‘m often worried that I‘m such a late bloomer I‘ll never bloom; yet after reading this, what excuses do I have?🔸#junereads2021

The Search for WondLa | Tony DiTerlizzi

The first book in The WondLa Trilogy, a highly imaginative middle-grade space opera written and gorgeously illustrated by Tony DiTerlizzi. I first read this trilogy on e-book, but this time I got a paperback box set so I could fully enjoy the artwork. The cast of memorable human and alien characters populates a world that is both fantastical and believable, and the plot is an enticing blend of suspense, heartbreak, and wonder.🔸#junereads2021

A friend sent me this as encouragement after I got the difficult news of a close family member‘s cancer diagnosis earlier this year. It‘s hard not to feel hopeful after reading. 🔸#junereads2021

Book Love | Debbie Tung

It‘s been a hectic summer, so I‘m in catch-up mode. In June I read six books, but I‘ll just mention four of them here: a couple of inspirational nonfiction titles and a favorite trilogy I started re-reading for my book club‘s July re-read theme. Choosing just a few titles was tough, as there are always at least a dozen books I want to re-read at any point in time. Which books have been on your re-read list for a while? 🔸#junereads2021
