In this Pride and Prejudice retelling, Zuri has a #KinkyAfro & her Bushwick, Brooklyn neighborhood is her #MerseyParadise a place she loves. She & her sister Janae #SitDown on the roof of their building & watch what‘s going on. Zuri has an immediate dislike of Darius Darcy, living #TheLifeOfRiley in his family‘s mini-mansion.🎤😉

My earliest memories of big Afros are of her in her youth: when she was involved with the Black Panthers; when she was jailed for her part in the Soledad Brothers hostage situation; and when she was fired from her position at UCLA (twice), and subsequently rehired after intervention from the Board of Regents. Davis was born in Birmingham, ⬇️

In this one, Guiliano discusses beauty in terms of makeup, grooming habits, and just general style. Whether your prefer a #KinkyAfro or a sans makeup look, you can pick up tips in this book. Alas, another one I‘ve yet to read, but I had to pick it up because of the hype. 🤷🏻‍♀️ #RedRoseSeptember

This book was a lot of fun but also pretty crazy. It is based on the myth of Theseus which I actually got it because I had previously read The King Must Die by Mary Renault. I don‘t remember If Oreo actually has a #kinkyafro or not but she might have given the book was first published in 1974 and is contemporary. ☮️
