I learned so much about the Mormon church for this book. It was a little slow for me in the beginning when she was laying the foundation, but it was necessary to understanding a lot of what came later. I‘m really glad I read this book. #Audible #audiobook

Very interesting to read an ex-Mormon story where the people converted to mainstream Christianity instead of becoming atheists. A lot of the facts about LDS I already knew but the quotes from the past prophets of the church were eye-opening. The appendix in the back comparing LDS beliefs & Biblical beliefs was very detailed & a great reference. This is def a memoir & I felt the story dragged at times & at others was a bit repetitive. Overall: 👍🏼

Former Mormon (30+years) turned Christian. Well written without being ugly towards the former beliefs. She explained why but was never harsh. The outline in the back was insightful. ⛪️🕌🕍⛩/5

I went to high school in southern Idaho where there is a large Mormon population so this book is really intriguing to me. It gives more peeks into the life of a "good" Mormon than anything I have read before. I am smh in shock frequently but all religions have their extremists..... and I have jam. Because bribes work for books, right??? #currentlyreading @Liberty #BooksFromSteinbeck

Sarahr875 Interesting! I grew up LDS and have a lot of family and friends who are still part of the LDS religion. While I disagree with the doctrine of the religion, I do respect that everyone has their own beliefs and that's okay. Does this broach the subject respectfully, or is it more of a slam?? I'd love to read it if it's a respectful approach. We could have full discussions on our opinions! 7y
josie281 @Sarahr875 I find it very respectfully done. It is written by a former LDS who converted to Christianity. She was a BYU professor as well. She explains her reasoning and seeing "cracks" in the Mormon doctrine without belittling. I am almost done with the book and doubt her tone would change for the negative. 7y
josie281 @Sarahr875 exactly! I tend to sit quiet at times as well. I like to educate myself for when I can articulate an answer 7y
