Bookish Song Nr. 38: Out of My Mind

This is the proof that you don't have to like a book to have a song connected to it. Deezer came up with Out of My Mind by Reuben and the Dark and my brain sent me back into the story. At least back to those part I still could enjoy (now I'm just waiting for the book to be over 😅)

Bookish Song Nr. 37: They Never Take Us Alive

Another song that automatically put different book scenes from Shorefall into my head. The song just reminded me so much of the atmosphere in this part of the trilogy and how I feel whenever I'm reading it.

Bookish Song Nr. 36: All The Things She Said

Yeah, I know my taste in music doesn't win prizes... 😅 But this song poppen up randomly on Deezer, and as soon as it started, it just threw me directly back into the book. I'm not quite sure what exactly it is that makes images from the story coming to my mind when the song plays, but they do. It might be the atmosphere in both media, but I can't really name it.

Bookish Song Nr. 35: The Last Of The Real Ones

Yes, another Gaunt song. But it's just too perfect not mention. It's their whole story packed into a song. The whole relationship between Gaunt and his Ghosts. Their past. The way they've come.

Where will they go? I do hope they'll find a new home for themselves.

Bookish Song Nr. 34: We Do It For The Glory

There are always songs that fit a book. And there are songs that just ARE the book. This song is so perfect, I almost started to cry. The melody, the atmosphere, the text - this is Gaunt. These are his Ghosts. This is The First And Only.

Do You Want To Live Forever?

Bookish song Nr. 13: Rat-A-Tat

I sing a bitter song
I'm the lonelier version of you
I just don't know where it went wrong

Well, in the book at least it is stated where and when it went wrong. I think the whole dynamic of this song fits Ivy and her life.

Bookish Song Nr. 11: Fighter

Deezer recently realized that I'm getting older and has started to come up with songs from my youth. Such as “Fighter“ by Christina Aguilera. And while it played I thought of “Four Dead Queens“ and Keras feelings towards Mackiel. How he “made“ her, but she still found her own way and how her past has made her stronger.

Bookish Song Nr. 9: All I Do Is Win

This started out as some joke in my head. I put it aside. It came back. I put it aside. It came back. Now I just can't stop listening to this song, without imagining how Eisenhorn, being almost indestructible, fights his way through demons and monsters. Just dance to the refrain together with the ships captain, who sure is all into money and shiny things.

Argh! It's stuck!

Bookish Song Nr. 6: The Crazy Ones

Usually, it takes time to find a song to a book. But just like I had this “I have to read this“ experiance with Priest of Bones, it didn't take long until the matching song came up. Now I even have some kind of anime style video clip in my head, whenever this song is being played.

Bookish Song Nr. 2: Never Again by Andrew W.K.

This connection came slowly but now it's here to stay. The song might be to fast for the rather deliberate story telling, still I think it fits. Especially, when Mahan goes and changes the whole game simply by doing things differently.
