Pickpick

Saeed actually grew up in Lewisville, TX, which is about 20 mins from my town. I enjoyed seeing it through his eyes and reading about his life as a gay, black man in Texas. Spoiler: that's not an easy thing to be here. #lgbt #ourownvoices #pridemonth

First pass through my physical collection when it‘s time to purge for my next move will be cishet white dudes. Then cis white dudes. Het white women will be on the chopping block next, but I‘ll be more discerning from there on out. Brought to you by evaluating how much time I have to read, and who I‘m willing to give it to anymore. #weneeddiversebooks #ourownvoices

WhatDeeReads I did this last year and I can confirm that it‘s a good choice. You gotta have at least One marginalization if you want my money. 🤷🏾‍♀️ #SorryNotSorry 7y
kgriffith @WhatDeeReads Eff yeah. I‘m gonna keep listening to Lock In bc my partner recommended it (and I purchased the female-narrated version rather than the Wil Wheaton, so I‘m only supporting one white dude and at least he‘s nerdy AF?), but I *think* that‘s my only current read that doesn‘t fit. 7y
lovelybookshelf I know this is an old post but I feel this sooo much! I'm making April a cis-free reading month. I'm considering it self-care. 7y

#ourownvoices #weneeddiversebooks 😍 “I yanked my hood up, giving the tightening cord a small tug; the hood tightened and the sound-dampeners clamped over my ears, cutting out some of the racket. I sighed in relief as I bolted down the hall. Just because the universe refused to accommodate my sensory issues didn‘t mean I couldn‘t find ways around them.”
