This is a beautiful story of a family saga that starts in Korea 1910 and ends in Japan 1989. You become so connected with each character as they live their lives, that it is like loosing a good friend when they pass away. It also gives you great insight to what the Korean immigrants to Japan had gone through. This was a wonderful story and I would highly recommend it to anybody.

Roger's Public Library Books and Brews bookclub May read. I LOVE this book. It is the perfect trifecta for me in the historical fiction genre: a realistic depiction of a set time period, a strong lead character, and a meaningful story expands your insight into areas you may not have understood clearly before. Definitely a great book to pick up.
