The Lost Symbol | Dan Brown

I read the first two back-to-back which kinda burned me out, i think. I took a big break and am now starting the third one, however, I think it's just the author and how he writes this character. The trope already tells familiar and overplayed and I'm only 6 chapters in. I have Origin in the tbr as well, but it appears I'm missing Inferno.... I know his newest just came out-- unsure if I will bother

Qualified recommendation. I liked the story, however it is very long. And it felt to me as if Dan Brown has a formula he follows when crafting a story. This character, check; this plot point, check; Langdon has trouble with the authorities, check; etc. So while the story was interesting, and the science was different, I felt as if I were reading the same story over again.

Velvetfur Oohh I want to watch that too! What's it like so far? 1mo
BarkingMadRead @Velvetfur I‘m liking it. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve read the book, so I don‘t know how accurate it is 1mo

This did not need to be so got dang long.

Suzze I have heard so many people say this! My hold came up at Libby and I‘m 30% in. So far, it‘s fine, I‘m worried it‘s going to drag on too long. 1mo
britt_brooke @Suzze If he could‘ve wrapped it up in 400 pages, it would‘ve been solid. Hope you continuing enjoying!! 1mo

I love Dan Brown books and this one did not disappoint. We all now need to go to Prague! History, epilepsy, mystery, science/technology, CIA, remote viewing and consciousness! Look up everywhere and everything as you go through this read. Langdon is back!

Boring. 😴 I almost DNF several times. This is a stroll through Renaissance art in Florence, Venice and the mixture of art and culture in Istanbul. All disguised as a rather slow chase of Robert Langdon by unknown pursuers. Brown even takes time to mention two ugly sculptures in the Boboli Gardens through which a lengthy portion of the chase ran. I love art and art history but yeah...Plus, a great deal about Dante and his Divine Comedy.

Found a good reading spot outside the gym where my 11 year old is participating in a basketball clinic with our high school team. It‘s a gorgeous evening in middle Tennessee!

LeahBergen Enjoy! 😘 2mo

I love a Robert Langdon story. Eight years for this one was a long time, but the research must have been pretty heavy. I know a lot of people complained about it. It's pretty science heavy. But I love how Brown gives me just enough answers at just the right time. I have to think, but not too hard. The pieces fall into place perfectly.
