panI've always hated The Great Gatsby, but thought I should try a different F Scott Fitzgerald to see if it's just that one I dislike and so when I saw this on #subwayreadsnyc I gave it a shot. NOPE. I can't get on with his books at all.
The racism, portrayal of women, and style just don't work for me at all. I know it's meant to be a comment on American values and wealth, but I hated reading it and had to push to finish even though it's a short.
ultrabookgeek How do you even download anything? I always mean to, then forget. Also, nice to meet someone else who doesn't like Gatsby- I never got that book. 8y
Kitta @ultrabookgeek I just have the page open on my phone and pick up where I left off - need to be careful not to let it re-direct when getting on the subway wifi though UGH the scrolling! Everyone I know loves Gatsby, I just don't get it. Glad to meet someone else who agrees with me too! 8y
