Despite the fact King is my favourite author I find horror (especially movies) terrifying.
pickNine perfect strangers check into a health retreat, where their “protocol” is a little unusual.... this book was half way between a pick and so so for me. It‘s the type of novel you read when you don‘t want anything too “heavy” - such as when you‘re at the beach or between bigger books that need a bit of brain power.
My inner thriller genre lover is very suspicious of the smoothies and five days of silence, however I don‘t think this‘ll be a thriller type of book 🤔
Rainy, cold days feel much colder when you‘re reading a novel about a boat stuck in ice. A few weeks off any real reading due to constant headaches and intermittent migraines. Excited to be diving back in!
My @24in48 stack + my current read The Terror by Dan Simmons which is on kindle. Working half days this weekend but hoping to get as close to 24 hours as possible! Two new books + a good old Harry Potter reread.
Next read! My local book clubs pick this month. I‘ve never heard of Dan Simmons before but the book is recommended by Stephen King so that‘s a good sign! The Kindle edition is over 900 pages long 😬
pickA love story that jumps between World War Two and the year 2005, a fiction novel based on the life of one the of the first female war correspondents, Lee Miller. Normally I‘m not into soppy romance or historical fiction, but when the book club picks something I go along for the ride. The detail of the war was amazing and the ending absolutely heartbreaking but also beautiful.
Not normally a historical fiction fan, but I‘m half way through and this has certainly got me interested
pickLove love loved this story! It felt like a slow burn at the start but the ending was punchy, fast and a little nerve racking. The book was beautifully written with lots of little details that tie together and make you feel like the story is real.
