“What imperfect carriers of love we are, and what imperfect givers. That the reasons we can care for one another can have nothing to do with the person cared for. That it has only to do with who we were around that person - what we felt about that person.”

Loved this book! I spend every Thanksgiving now in NYC and I learned some things about it. Plus, it‘s by Roz Chast. My favorite cartoonist.

Attenberg has an amazing gift for getting feelings and experiences down on paper.

It took me a while to really get into this book but once I did, I didn't want to put it down. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, and often poignant.

Wow! I just recently learned about Dani Shapiro. She is a wonderful writer who really knows how to get inside her characters. I'll be reading everything of hers I can get my hands on.

I couldn't put this down. Characters seemed real and the story really touched me. It's so hard to be "the weird kid" in middle school.

This book touched me deeply. Anyone who has ever lost a pet to illness will feel it in their bones. I certainly did

Sue Oh I don't know if I'm ready for that! 7y
PurpleyPumpkin This is on my tbr for 2017. Sounds as though you thought highly of it. (edited) 7y
AlwaysForeverReading It sounds like a great read, but I lost my miniature poodle, Sebastian in 2016; it‘s still painful. He was 17 1/2. (edited) 5y

I've been following this story since the first season of Serial. If you think you've heard everything about this case, you should read the book. Read it in just a couple of sittings.

Well-ReadNeck Glad you posted. I've listened to Serial and Undisclosed. So, wasn't sure if this would just be a rehash. 8y
jessberk13 I'm listening to the audio right now. So much more detailed than Serial! 8y

Reminder to self: Don't start a new book just before bed. There are a few late nights in my future. Loving this.

One of the most important children's books I've read in a long time. The message of homelessness is told from the perspective of a street bear.

Lots of food for thought. Took my time with it in order to give her words time to soak in.
