Pretty good thriller. The gimmick is that the protagonist is a math genius and that allows her to quickly evade bullets and plan escape routes. Overall, just a bit too outrageous plot turns for me to pick up the next one. #MountTBR #Audiobook

swynn Well dang. Sorry it didn't work for you, but yeah it's definitely over the top and I understand bouncing off its outrageousness. I've just finished the second in the series, and though I enjoyed it the excesses are not toned down -- so probably a good decision not to continue. 5d

I‘ve been reading the Cotton Malone series for so long, they are now auto-reads for me. However, Berry‘s recent spate of books set in the US have lacked some of the luster and historical interest of his international books. I‘m glad to report that this one is back to the early standards!!! #netgalley

This one has been on #MountTBR for quite a while. I decided to go on my library‘s OverDrive page to see if I might be able to knock a couple out by listening. Yay! This was well-narrated and I enjoyed it on audio.

Ok, I‘m not gonna lie, I just really don‘t get all the hype. The writing is beautiful, but the story just didn‘t do a single thing for me. I felt very similarly when I finally read Less. #unpopularopinion

Back when The Art of Fielding came out and everyone and their brother were recommending it, I kept saying, "A book about baseball? No thanks." And, I kept hearing, it's about so much more than baseball. Eventually, I just picked up the book . . . it was amazing.

In 2020, I'll be the one telling everyone else . . . it's about so much more than baseball, just pick up the dang book.

A great debut.

Great quote for #WorldMentalHealthDay

“... tips for helping depressive people.

what to say:
I‘m sorry that you‘re in so much pain. I am not going to leave you. I am going to take care of myself, so you don‘t need to worry that your pain might hurt me.

What not to say:

have you tried chamomile tea?”

DuckOfDoom Have you tried yoga? 😂 It is so awful to hear that from people you thought could understand you. And it would be so easy to change. 5 minutes with Google can tell you that. A basic mental health awareness should be more common, the stigma attached would shrink, too 1mo
KimM “You should go to the gym. I always feel great afterwards.“ This statement just infuriates me. First, endorphins may help but they do not cure depression and secondly, telling a person how great you feel and how you are going to the gym when they are having trouble getting out of bed just makes the person feel even more like a human failure.
