“I often wonder who I would have been if this terrible thing had not happened to me...and when I imagine this woman who somehow made it to adulthood unscarred, she is everything I am not.”—p. 300

A wonderfully strange and sometimes dark modern fairytale about a mailman and a raven who fall in love and raise a raven girl and the extraordinary lengths that she must go to in order to feel whole while occupying two worlds in which she never quite fit. Beautiful illustrations too!
I love Nick Cave as a musician and lyricist, so the fact that he can write doesn‘t surprise me. However, the main character is tiresome and vile, and it was hard to keep reading. I would take breaks for weeks at a time just to get away from him.
