pickI am sceptically aware of my own bias here because I love Nick Cave, but the more I think about it the more intelligent I realise the writing is. I loved it! Listening to the audiobook is definitely the way to go. It was like listening to a performance with the musical arrangements and sound effects. If your a Nick Cave fan and even if your not (and are not adverse to reading darker subject matter) I recommend listening to this book.
so-soI love Nick Cave as a musician and lyricist, so the fact that he can write doesn‘t surprise me. However, the main character is tiresome and vile, and it was hard to keep reading. I would take breaks for weeks at a time just to get away from him.

This novel by Nick Cave (of NC & The Bad Seeds fame) features one of the most unlikable main characters ever- being with Bunny Munro the whole time nearly ruined the novel for me. He's got a 'joke' where he introduces himself to women he's hitting on and makes bunny ears wave on his head. So, technically, this was never funny, but I'll be charitable and say #ThatJokeIsntFunnyAnymore #JuneTunz @Cinfhen
pickThis is a hard book to like. It's vulgar, rude and disturbing. The anti-hero main character is completely unlikeable, but his descent into madness is truly tragic, and hilarious. Nick Cave from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds certainly has a way with words, and he makes you cringe while reading them.

I knew Nick Cave had a way with words, but I can say, I don't think I've read anything like this in a long time. It's been compared to American Psycho, and I can certainly see that with the vulgarity and way with words.
When you're reading a book by Nick Cave and his song, Red Right Hand comes on. Beautiful.

Saw Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds live this week. It was an intense, acoustically brilliant show, although the venue was too big for my liking. I prefer a more intimate Nick experience 😍. I loved this book (pictured here with my husband's guitar). I read it some years ago, and it meets the criteria for #redbooks #17booklove quite strikingly.
Dark and twisted like his music, which is amazing. Can't put it down.
