Even if you have not been affected by the opioid epidemic in any way, you should read this. Unfortunately, at the rate this country is going, you will become affected. PAIN KILLER gives a definitive look at the rise of the Sackler family (Purdue) in pharmaceuticals beyond that of the Rockefellers in the oil industry. You will read the true story of how they aggressively marked Oxycontin and how they have destroyed hundreds of thousands of lives.

Cosmos_Moon I‘ve seen this one when I was researching books. Reading the book Heroine (a novel) right now, and it just starts with a bad injury and some prescribed oxy. The young character in this book starts to slip quickly. It‘s pretty good, I‘d recommend 😘 4y

If you are having trouble understanding the national emergency brought on by the pharmaceutical companies, doctors, and everyone else who profited from addiction and death, this book gives an upclose and personal glance at those who blew the whistle, those who struggled, and the many that perished in targeted epicenters in Virginia and West Virgina. Highly recommend following up or beginning with the predecessor Painkiller.
