The fear of pain produces anesthesia, which leads to non-growth. This has led to the opioid crisis in the USA. It is not about suffering, but about knowing the intrinsic message that pain wants to show us, resolve it and stop the pain.
It is a fantastic book by Byung Chul Han, recommended. Korean is perhaps the best philosopher of the 21st century.
