Way of Kings | Brandon Sanderson
Pickpick

Magnificent world building, interesting magic system essential to the ominous unknown history of said world, and some of the most engaging suffer puppets I‘ve ever read. Plus, it‘s Sanderson, so while you‘re pulling your hair out waiting for book three (four if you‘re reading this a month from now), just pick up one of his many other fantastic offerings. Maintains a manageable cast of viewpoint characters while building a library of others.

Pickpick

If you enjoy bizarre mathematically fueled consensual reality magitech, Mad geniuses of questionable morality, and dank moral quandaries then this book is for you. the story is part military/naval action, part espionage, and all about one monster‘s attempt to apply a Morton‘s Fork to an even more monstrous government. I found the characters engaging and the world building fascinating.

8leagueboot You had me at "magitech" ? 7y
