The Glass Castle: A Memoir | Jeannette Walls

I loved the stark truthfulness in this book. As an 'old social worker', I've worked with many children over the years who could have written similar words. A brutally honest, first-person account - guaranteed to make many people uncomfortable because it isn't 'nice and neat.'

MrBook Discomfort is something I don't shirk from. 8y

I love Gail Caldwell's honesty in this emotionally bare memoir. I, too, lost my 'chosen' sister - to melanoma - when she was just 52. Gail's words perfectly captured the pain and grief I experienced. Reading someone else's similar journey so beautifully articulated made me feel 'less alone.'

Was surprised to see the Litsy community rated this only at 58%. I loved the characters in this book and the 'voice' in which it was written.

This book will make your heart ache for the thousands of children caught in this same journey. Hugely empathetic prose. Highly recommend, but be warned - this book will linger in your subconscious for a long while.

Stylistically similar to Dan Brown, but different enough to hold my attention. I liked this book.

This was an unexpectedly magnificent read! If you pick this up, plan to be fully captivated through the lady page. 100% yes.

Always look forward to a good Baldacci sprint. First 50 were slower than normal, but hang with it - pace does pick up!

Rogue Lawyer | John Grisham
Mehso-so

Was okay as a short-stint 'late night' read (#insomniabuster), but it seems Grisham is falling into the formulaic ditch.

Bailedbailed

I was so excited when this book was available on my library 'holds' list. Just did not hold my attention - after the first chapters, I bailed.

StrictlySusannah Oh no I bailed initially too but once you get into it. It is wonderful. 8y
