Stephen King really took his time to set up the characters and atmosphere of the town in this book. It creates suspense not just for the character, but around them as well. It shows the reader that danger is everywhere and anything could happen when they least expect it to.
pickThough it is not the most thrilling book I‘ve read, it keeps an excellent tone of suspense throughout. It is an entertaining read with interesting characters and a plot that will really make you think about the true meaning of justice.
The main protagonist, Benjamin Mears, seems to be a mystery of a person. Stephen King provides very little information about the character other than that he is a writer and he has suffered a recent tragedy of some kind. He at first seems like an average guy, but further into the story he starts to reveal more dark and disturbing information about himself and his past.
