Blurbs for my debut #cozymystery are coming in and I‘m bowled over by them. Ty to author Ellen Byron aka Maria DiRico for this lovely blurb!
I‘m reading this ARC of Silvia-Moreno-Garcia‘s Velvet Was The Night. Her character development is so so so good! The story is told in 2 povs and is set in 1970s Mexico City. There is political/revolution intrigue. I‘m not to the end yet but I‘m so invested in the outcome.
I‘m about 1/2 through this MG mystery and I‘m really enjoying the characters and setting. This is the 3rd in the series but I think it works as a stand alone. The Muskrats are a great group of friends each with their own distinct character. I appreciate the gentle handling of city-raised vs tribally-raised. The respect the young ones give to the elders is wonderful and a lesson for us all.
Plot is Murder fits my #2021CozyChallenge for January as it is set in a bookstore. If you need suggestions for January try this list https://cozy-mystery.com/blog/cozy-mystery-librarians.html
I‘m enjoying this cozy mystery. I love the setting, a bookstore, and the unusual main character Sam, a recently widowed 30-something. Nana Jo, Sam‘s grandmother, is a riot. Her “Golden Girls” crew are fun. There is also a “play within the play”.
