I honestly am unsure what to say about this book, the main character Margot is so awful, whiny and needy that it's hard to root for her at all. I wanted to really love her and this book and use it to create some diverse curriculum but I'm not sure we are ready for such an unlikeable protagonist.

I thought Ellen would move a little faster than she is, lots of stuff going on in the story and all 5 POV are pretty depressing. Not sure if I'll make it to book 2.

Starting this beauty tonight.

LyndseyReads I'm reading Mr. Fox after I finish the third Ferrante novel. Pretty excited to give Oyeyemi a whirl. 8y

This doesn't look as enjoyable as my last book 😳 yay for professional development.

What a fast read! I love JP and the women's murder club for taking me away from real life for a few hours.

What a heart wrenching tale of love and redemption. This was such a quick read and such an important story about race and second chances.

I didn't need to say anything more. You can tell all you need to know about someone from the way cows are around him.

I wanted to love this because it has a female protagonist who kicks ass, but I felt like the story was pretty anti-climatic. I am not sure at this point if I'll recommend it or read the rest of the trilogy.

"That's not a plan," I say. "That's a let's-try-this-and-hope-it-works fiasco."
